Fado is a traditional Portuguese music about the hardships of life. It is mournful and melancholic. I had the opportunity to hear Fado performed in Lisbon while having dinner with my friends from the Philadelphia airport. Bill Murphy and his family invited me to a snazzy restaurant below the Hotel de Santa Justa. As I was finishing my traditional Portuguese plate of Bacalhau (Cod), a female singer and two guitar players began providing the music for the evening. They were a talented trio and had me watching attentively, mesmerized by the beauty and emotion of their music. Here is a taste of that charming experience:
